Marketing & Design Professionals at PIA Expo Trade Show
(SAN DIEGO - January 26, 2010) - San Diego Print Week has transformed into the PIA Expo, the cross media event designed to integrate the multiple facets of marketing, design, advertising, media, and print.
Running concurrent to the PIA Expo trade show are nine seminars, lead by the nation's top speakers. Hosted by the Printing Industries Association of San Diego (PIA/SD), these seminars provide marketing professionals, designers, and printers the opportunity to improve production, save time and money, hone job skills, learn about the latest technologies and explore new trends. All seminars are 90-minutes in length and are held down the hall from the PIA Expo Trade Show on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the San Diego Convention Center.
Seminar 1 (10 - 11:30 a.m.) - MSMA's Marketing 3.0: The Integration of Print & Mail with the Online World
In this workshop, you'll learn everything from basics to best practices of social media! Learn about the fascinating ways companies are using social & traditional media to leverage their internal teams. You'll discover how to create your own social media plan that is scalable and attainable that can augment your existing content. Co-sponsored with Mail Systems Management Association, this seminar is geared for all businesses that use direct mail as part of their marketing plans.

Seminar 2 (10 - 11:30 a.m.) - Life with Print: Cross Media Strategies

Discover how print can be leveraged as an effective and superior communication tool to within a changing marketing environment.

This session takes you from the basics of why Direct Mail works though successful implementation. You'll start with addressing the "when, why should I? and call-to-action" at planning, and move through the importance of Permission Marketing, 1-to-1 Marketing, Intimacy Selling, and the impact Variable Data Printing has made in the last decade. Seminar 6 (12-1:30 p.m.) - Preparing Files for Cross Media
As Freelance Designers we're being asked more and more to get involved with both print and electronic file creation. This class isn't about building a website or Flash graphic, but more about creating a file that is good for both print and electronic so you don't have to redo your work to repurpose...or at least you can keep that reworking to a minimum.
Using the tools you already know (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) you'll learn valuable tips and tricks about how to build print files that can easily be adapted for Flash, Dreamweaver, Interactive PDF and more. In all cases, the starting point is print and then repurposing from there.
